Catena was founded in 2024 by operations and technology professionals who spent years watching the same settlement fails happen on the same desks, for the same reason: confirms still live in email and matching still happens in spreadsheets.
Why we built this
The post-trade problem has a known fix. It just had not been built for the ops desk.
Before Catena, Jeremy spent six years in fixed-income settlement at Aldridge Capital, watching the same two-hour morning ritual on every desk he touched: pull confirms from email, paste them into a spreadsheet, match by hand, hunt the mismatches. The IT team was always a quarter away from fixing it. The fix never came.
In 2024, the combination of production-grade document parsing and reliable classification made it possible to automate that workflow without an IT project. Catena is that automation, designed to connect in hours and match from day one.
Catena is not a custodian, a clearing member, or a regulatory reporting service. It reads confirms, matches them against open positions, and alerts the desk to breaks. Every resolution is a human decision. That is the design.
